Is it wrong to say?

Is it wrong to say,

that I desire simplicity?

Simplicity of truth,

love and beauty.

Is it wrong to say,

That I don’t need opulence.

That in fact,

it reeks of destruction and violence.

Of values misplaced,

Of beauty forgotten.

Is it wrong to say,

That our culture breeds a desire for “more”?

That the glamour and advertising,

Are a driver of unconscious desires,

Fueling the economics of exponential growth.

Is it wrong to say that our economic system,

Addicts us to the equation of “more”?

Ties us to mundane work,

Where we yearn for titles and accolades,

Stuck in dynamics of wealth, fame and power?

Is it wrong to say,

That we’ve forgotten ourselves?

We’ve betrayed our bodies,

Sold our minds to the highest bidder,

& ignored our soul.

Instead of human beings,

We’re becoming human machines.

And these days we’re all caught in the frenzy,

Giving birth to yet another soulless being called AI.

Is it wrong to feel for the Earth?

For the ecosystems being destroyed for our consumption,

For the climate being knocked out of balance,

For the disasters that tear our lives apart?

Is it wrong to care for the next generation?

The ones that are our kids and grandkids are inheriting.

The ones that will pay the true price for our negligence.

Is it wrong to say,

that I desire simplicity?

Simplicity of truth,

love and beauty.

Is it wrong?
